Nutriact - Nutritional Intervention for Healthy Aging: Food Patterns, Behavior and Products
Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung
1.06.2015 bis 31.05.2018
Since foods and nutrients are usually consumed as complex combinations, the investigation of patterns rather than single foods will lead to a better understanding of the principles of food choice and nutritional behaviour. Consequently, this project will extract dietary patterns from collected dietary data and investigate their stability, their alteration over the life span with special emphasis on adults aged 50-70 y, their dependence on the familial and social environment, and their conformance with dietary recommendations. In addition, it will study the association of dietary patterns including the Nutriact-Pattern with risk of type 2 diabetes, myocardial infarction, stroke, cancer and mortality in order to provide a quantitative assessment of the health benefits of a given diet (nutritional score). We will furthermore identify social orientation patterns that support or inhibit the adherence to nutritional recommendations. This systematic evaluation will lead to the identification of a healthy food patterns which are adapted to regional settings.
